ECs that help for pre-med admissions?

Do top colleges for pre-med like seeing that you are making your extra curriculars focus on the medical field?
And would it then be a good idea to try to volunteer or participate in a wide array of medical practices? Such as gaining experience not only in a hospital, but maybe also with pediatricians or physicians etc.

Most kids that start “pre-med”, which actually isn’t a major but just a label you give yourself, don’t apply to med school. So in the 1st place colleges won’t place a lot of emphasis on your health-related experience. Second, while there may be a box you can check somewhere that indicates an interest in pre-med, you will apply as a bio or chem or history or whatever major; that’s what you’re accepted for, not what you may plan to pursue once you get your degree. Third, volunteer work is not really going to help all that much in college admissions if all you do in contribute hours; selective colleges look for accomplishment and leadership; anybody can rack up hundreds of hours washing bedpans or spooning out soup at a food kitchen, but selective colleges are looking for something more than just devotion.

Now having said all that, doing medical-related work now is a great idea. For one, you might find out you don’t like it and save yourself 4 years of work. That’s why experience in a medical setting is one of the unofficial requirements to get into med school; they’re not going to take someone who they don’t think knows what they’re getting into. And on the other hand if you really can see yourself as a doctor (or working in the medical field; its funny how everyone thinks they have to be a doctor when there are so many other good jobs in medicine that take a college degree plus additional training) then that knowledge will help you focus in school and do what it takes to get in.
