Does anyone have any advice for a future pre-med student? What kinds of ECs should I do (internships, volunteer work, research)?

Also, when a pre-med student gets an interview does that mean as long as they do good on their interview they're pretty much set? Or will GPA, ECs, and other things in their profile be taken into account along with the interview itself?

BTW, I'm only going to be in a 4 year institute for two years as I have gotten all my nonscience (general ed, electives to fill in the gap for graduation) done. I will only be working on classes I need for my major. I don't mind being overwhelmed with work. Please give me your advice. Thanks a bunch!

You should have a decent number of hours, but that ins’t as important as the experiences you gain from your work. The number of EC’s doesn’t even really matter. Just try to get as involved as possible with the EC’s you have a strong interest in…don’t join groups just because you think you need to add more beef to your resume.

“internships, volunteer work, research” - all of it, and more and show some interests outside of science (hopefully you have them), do not hesitate to pursue them…and spending just 2 years in UG might be not possible and sometime might be not a good idea at all when applying to Med. School. It is better to take your time, allow yourself to grow as a person.
