I am a senior who is planning on applying to college. I plan on running track at college and have been communicating with coach at Middlebury College. I think I have a pretty good shot at being accepted but the coach meantioned he only had a say in admissions if I applied ED. The problem is that the financial aid I would receive would be very minimal and the cost of attending would be north of 60k per year. On the other hand, UVM would be much cheaper, and I could for the most part afford to go there without any debt for all 4 years. I think I would enjoy both schools, but I was wondering if it would be worth the difference in price to attend the more prestigious school. (I plan on majoring in economics)
Go to UVM. It’s a great school. Some will respect UVM more than Middlebury. Because of the cost of higher education it has all changed. No longer are great students only found at the private schools. Personally I think the larger university will offer you more and give you a better experience than Middlebury. JMHO.
Are you a Vermont resident?
Yeah, I live close to Burlington so I would receive in state tuition and am hoping to be accepted into the honors college and get some scholarship money.
Wait for your acceptances and have the money discussion with your parents when all the data is in.
