And if you'd like to read my essay ( I think it is quite good) tell me and I will pm it to you.

Thanks!

I'll read the essay if you'd like. Jus PM me!

In terms of chances I would think that your GPA is a bit low. Your ECs are great and testing is okay but does not stand out. I think with a really good essay and showing Brown you REALLY REALLY want to go there will make you fairly competitive- however, it is a very difficult school to get into. Good luck.

If you want a percentage I would say about 15% ED

I don't think Brown is a very likely possibility for you because of your low GPA and test scores, but I wish you the best of luck!

Brown ED: 2%

well, even if I don't get in, I'm glad I applied. If I didn't I would always wonder if I could have gone there...

here's a random question for thought: how does one tell if one's high school is prestigious? I think the majority of ppl think their high school is prestigious, which is really a contradiction in reality to have most schools be 'superior'.

One thing about Brown...they write a very "sweet" rejection letter, trust me.

goBears: i think ranking has a lot to do with the 'prestige' of a school..but i think most of the time rankings do have some validity because these schools have prestigious faculty and advanced programs. but yeah..i do think it's funny that schools call themselves 'superior.'

Governor's School NC? Sweet!

I guess I rate my school's prestige based on the amount of students that get accepted to top schools. I don't know the stats for the ivies, but my north carolina high school has the highest state acceptance rate to UNC Chapel Hill, which is one of the best state schools in the country. also, we have an ib program, which is pretty sweet.

Yeah, the same goes for my school. We're a public school in Texas and last year we sent 1 to Stanford, 5 to MIT, 2 to Harvard, some other 20 to the other ivies that I know of. Almost everyone in our top 15% went to a tier one university, or straight to UT Austin or UT Austin's Red McCombs School.

On a side note, in our schools 14 years we have never sent a male asian to MIT. I feel bad for this asian guy in my class who is so pumped for it. I hope he gets in. It's also been four years since we sent anyone to Penn. My guidance counselor jokes that they hate our school. :P

Are these public schools? If so, then grim67, you are very lucky to be going to such a great public HS. Those are very good numbers.
