ED Brownies, Help RD's!

To all the lucky people who got accepted at Brown, Congraaaaats !
and to the deffered, good luck and hope u get in !

Now to my main point…

The Brown Supplement has 2 questions asking about the Concentration Interest1
and 2, it has 4 squares. It’s telling you to “take a look at Brown degrees and fields of concentration shown in the ‘Guide to Applying to Brown’ (couldn’t find it :frowning: ) and tell us which areas of study seem most attractive to you currently”.

In many words I want to go to Medical school after I graduate. What should I write ? :
I mean what do people desiring to study Medicine usually major ?

Another thing, which essays did you pick ? I’ll be grateful if send me samples  !

I really like the one " What don’t you know?" but I think I’ll have a better chance if I write my own topic.

Thanks everyone and good luck

Here’s a complete list of all the concentrations

There are requirements that you must fulfill to be able to go to medical school later on- basically, you need to complete a “pre-med” major. I know a lot of people major in biology/biological sciences, but I’m not exactly sure if you can major in anything else because I’m going for econ. Have you looked at the PLME program? It serves as both pre-med and med- it’s an 8 year program and you’ll walk away ready to start a medical career. I suggest you look into that.

Please note that for the 500 word or less essay, you have to pick one of the three topics! You can do a topic of free choice for your common app essay, but you’re limited to those three options for that one.

I picked the topic about a project that changed my life. The what don’t you know is an interesting topic, but you really need to frame it right so it doesn’t turn out as a big list of things you don’t know.

Good luck from an ED Brownie! Maybe you’ll join us in April. (:

This is not correct. There is no such thing as a “pre-med major” at Brown.

Students interested in medical school are required to take certain subjects. But you can major in anything you want, as long as you take these required classes.

Here is some info from the Brown’s pre-med advising program: [Frequently Asked Questions](<a href=“WELCOME TO HEALTH CAREERS ADVISING | Health Careers Advising”>WELCOME TO HEALTH CAREERS ADVISING | Health Careers Advising)

As for essays: You can write under your own topic for the Common App essay, but for the Brown supplement you must select one of the 3 prompts provided.

Did anyone who got accepted write about the “What Don’t You Know” prompt?
I really like my idea but actually carrying out the process of writing the essay is proving to be incredibly difficult. It’s turning into a laundry list of “I don’t know this and this and this and this. Oh and this and this. And also this. Yeah I’m pretty ignorant.”
Anyone willing to send a sample? if not, I totally understand.

That’s why I put it in quotes. A “pre-med” major integrates the needed subjects into the student’s program.

i would say that generally pre-med students concentrate in biology or neuroscience (on the premed track), but some do major in humanities while completeing their premed requirements

actually I called the admission’s office asking them about the major they told me they’re not quite sure so I’m gonna write Biology or Human Biology and decide afterwards !

and as for the essay I chose the one " a project or… that has inspired you" and I’m still working on it.
