@TomSrOfBoston I just checked Nacacnet.org, the national association for college admissions counseling, and it is not a direct withdraw if you applied to the places before apply ED. If you get accepted to the other colleges and wish to go, you must explicitly detail the reasonings in a letter but you my/will get blacklisted from the university.
That’s just not true. They’re considering taking away the option to get bumped down to it.
@TomSrOfBoston there is only 200 spots for the fall its really not unrealistic
I got accepted to Michigan State, Arizona State, Pitts, U of Iowa
@taylorwicks, I have always been curious how a university “blackballs” a student. What does that really mean? I have heard of schools in the same consorsiums sharing ED admits (Ivies for example), but other than sharing info., what is “being blackballed”? Anyone?
@Winky1 basically they rescind any acceptances or reject you and tell other schools to do the same.
I wonder what’s the denial message looks like because yesterday when I asked them they said there are bunch of people who got denied by ED.
@Taylorwicks From the BU website:
http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/early-decision/
“Early Decision Application Instructions
If admitted, you must submit a nonrefundable enrollment deposit and withdraw your applications to all other colleges and universities.”
This is the association that creates the rules and guidelines.
"If a college has admitted you ED, and then you have been admitted elsewhere, you need to contact both schools to discuss whether they will release you from the ED commitment and allow you to attend the other school. "
a bunch of people got denied? hahaha i’m definitely one of those
@Winky1 If your D got into Vanderbilt and has the “Thank you” message for BU, I definitely think the “thank you” message has to do with acceptance. Do you know when the message changed?
Oh! if any of you guys want to talk to me to get the nerves out before application decisions are released DO NOT BE AFRAID to PM me!! happy to talk maybe I can make some friends before i get there
@Apes2468 , my D has only applied RD to Vanderbilt, has not been accepted.
Her BU message was " our records" on Dec. 5th ( 2 days ago), and when we checked today, it was Thank you for application ". So it changed somewhere in those 45 hrs.
BU is another RD application
Crap…I just realized that IF i get in, then the financial aid at BU is really bad for middle-class kids. I never knew financial aid at BU was so bad. i kinda wanna get in, but then if i do… ohhh the money!
Also, does anyone know about the grade deflation in science courses? I hear its ridiculous but then again… i’d rather work hard to get good grades and get into med school than get rejected with inflated grades…eh whatever. life is great!
@SchoolEnthusiast I didn’t apply for aid, not at all, checked out CGS, ED 1, maybe still getting deferred.
Guys!! Northeastern released their early action decisions today even tho their release date was set at the 15th as well! I know BU and northeastern sometimes collaborate so we might get decisions tomorrow!!!
@terrier333 It was Northeastern’s ED decisions and they do not collaborate on anything.
Did anyone else’s financial aid status change??? Mine used to be a couple paragraphs but was changed to “Your application is complete. A decision is pending. You will be notified by mail as soon as a decision is made.” sometime between 2pm and now
What I mean is, if it’s not too early for northeastern to release decisions why would it be too early for BU to release them tomorrow… they had the same info for ED: due by Nov. 1, release date dec. 15, and they’re both close by. Also, the admissions accounts for each school both follow each other so I thought there might be some influence or at least communication with eachother considering they’re both major colleges in Boston
