oh and question - my grandfather alumni completed his masters here (and went on to teach there for several years I think) Will this help my chance or does it only apply to direct parents, not grandparents?

honest feedback for my chance would be greatly appreciated

NU is a major reach since your test scores and grades are definitely on the low end unless you had a great hook; URM, athlete, etc...

I disagree. If you can get your scores higher, I think you are an automatic admit.

I was in the exact same GPA situation as you, but had a 35 ACT and a 1510 SAT (for the old test). No really special activities or anything else, and I got in ED.

Your chances are decent, especially after retaking those tests. Be sure to let your love for NU come through too...plenty of sincere, heartfelt interest in the school can work wonders. So visit, call, email, and put tons of effort into your essays and other written responses. Good luck!
