Essay: Common App was "amazing" according to most people. Supplements are also.

Recommendations:
My APUSH teacher who loved me since I was the best in his class.
Lang teacher said she would write me one since I showed how hard I worked in her class despite my AP score. (Got an A in her class)
Guidance counselor rec should be good since she likes me.
BFF writing my rec. Currently working closely with him to write it.
Recommendation from my professor who said he would write me a good recommendation for Dartmouth.

State: New York
School Type: Ultra-competitive public, smartest class for the last 10 years
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
Hooks: Mom didn't attend college???
Immigrated from China in 5th grade.

bump

Dartmouth is basically a reach for most people, even ones with stellar credentials.
If I were you I wouldn’t send the AP scores that are a 3 either…
I also am just taking your word for it that your essay is great but I’d say low reach/reach…

I think you have a shot but it’s a crapshoot.

ALSO just keep in mind that ED acceptance rates are higher in schools like these because a lot of athletes/legacies apply early…

Good luck though!

P.S i’m also just a student so my guess is as good as yours!

Easy defer/wait list straight from your GPA. The admissions committee only cares about unweighted GPA, so you if your weighted is <4.0 with AP weight added then your unweighted will not be very good. You say your school is ultra competitive but I would need to see where you rank among your peers to negate the negative GPA.

School doesn’t do unweighted and our school doesn’t rank.

What do you think?
