ED class of 2020

Nevermind yes it does…did not realize that I should replace the **** with facebook dot com

Congrats!!! I didn’t make it but you guys are awesome! Thank you for spending time with me until the results came up! Have fun at WashU~ I hope I have another cool chance at different place!

@greekyogurtking :frowning:

Seriously considering making a facebook just to join the group :stuck_out_tongue:

You should! I know no one going in to Wash U, and I’ll be completely alone. I want to try to get to know at least one person before the big day! lol.

WashU will also create an admitted Facebook page so you can meet your classmates. :slight_smile:

@studentsurvivor I’ll see about making that facebook account in between procrastinating my english essay next week. I live in STL, so I know a handful of people at WashU - I’d love to get to know you (and like, everyone else in 2020 :slight_smile: ). PM me and I’ll send you my email address or something.

Rejected.
I actually am glad to see this, as I regretted applying here early decision. Noone has ever heard of it, everyone and thinks it is University of Washington, thus the name is pointless. They don’t care about the person, they just want to pump their scores and try to pump their rank, even though noone knows about the school. Who wants to live in Missouri anyways?
3.7 UW 4.2 W
31 ACT (just retook and know I improved it)
lots of EC’s
Applied for FA

@cappex
Glad things worked out for you.

ED is only for those who really want to attend the school anyway. You should have done the right thing in early December by calling your admissions counselor and telling him/her to either withdraw your ED app altogether or change you to RD due to the fact that WashU all of a sudden doesn’t have the name recognition you’re seeking.

Karma worked in WashU’s favor here. Had you been selected, then they would have had an unhappy student who would not have been proud to tell people he is going to WashU for fear that it could be mistaken for U-Dub. It would have been a lose-lose for both parties, and especially that student who didn’t get selected because you did.

Bashing the system/process shows a lack a maturity when you’re below the cut line.

Just tell people you got rejected, congratulate those who got accepted, and move on. I’ve seen plenty of posters who do that. You could have done that too but chose not too. Too bad.

@cappex.
You are being silly for saying no one has heard of WashU. There are hundreds of exceptional schools around the globe. You cannot possibly know all of them unless you’ve been exposed to them. For example have you heard of Harvey Mudd? They are the MIT on the west coast. Many people haven’t even heard of Rice either. I could list a dozen other schools. They are all highly exceptional schools that are literally impossible to get in. WashU gets around 29000 applications a year which is HUGE for only 1700 spots so naturally a lot of students will be rejected. That’s why you have to have to apply to safeties. So it’s silly to say no one has heard of it. 29,000 students and their families definitely heard of it. And that’s only the freshman class.

I’m sorry you got rejected. It’s not fun but hopefully you’ll get in somewhere else. There are many other great colleges besides WashU. Good luck.

@cappex
I disagree… I think they are all about a student’s character, not stats. I got a 30 on the ACT (without superscore), took no sat 2s, am Korean, and still got in… I think it’s all a matter of whether or not you’re a good fit.

Don’t be bitter about not getting in. Be happy for those who did and know that now you can apply to other schools instead of being legally binded to one you weren’t sure of.

@cappex

First of all, WashU has prestige. Sure, it might not have the same brand name recognition as the Ivies do, but it’s still an extremely well-known school. The higher in education you get, the more people there are that recognize WashU.

Second of all, how the hell would I have gotten in if all they cared about were stats and trying to pump their rank? Two of my SAT subsections are barely at their 25th percentile. That’s not even considering that I applied to their Olin Business School, which has the highest SAT average for undergraduate business programs.

Third, one of the reasons why I picked WashU was because of its location in St. Louis, MO. I’m from California, as in the golden-freaking-state, California. Statistically, I had a high chance of admission into schools like UC Berkeley or UCLA, hell I could’ve tried my luck and applied to Stanford, and prayed for a miracle to happen, but I didn’t. I chose WashU as the school to ED to. Moving away from CA to MO means saying goodbye to the Silicon Valley (tech heaven), but it also means saying hello to a rich and vibrant community that emulates Midwestern hospitality and WashU’s innovation at its finest. St. Louis is also one of the hubs for social change and activism. I mean WashU is hosting a presidential debate next year!

The fact that you went out of your way to seemingly discredit WashU’s process is indicative that you probably aren’t a good fit for the school. It sucks to get rejected when you’ve tried so hard, but you have to realize that the competition for college admissions is INSANE. It’s not your fault nor the school’s. Sometimes that’s just how the dice rolls. You can’t let it get the better of you and make you have a negative outlook on things.

You’re already great. You don’t need to belittle a college to validate that.

@ChicagoSportsFn I applied somewhere ED II, and am regretting it as well. Exactly how do I cancel it 100%???

Does anyone know when the financial aid information will be put in our pathway account? I don’t want to submit the enrollment deposit without knowing for sure what I am going to be paying for.

@cappex
Send an email to your admissions counselor. You should have been assigned one at the school to which you’re applying. Tell him/her your circumstance (eg changed your mind, can’t commit to a binding decision due to finances, etc) and request that your EDII be changed to RD (if that’s what you want) or take your app away altogether.

The admissions counselor will either do it for you or send you to someone else in the admissions dept who can do it.

My DD is doing it now. She’s pulling her apps that still have to be reviewed and her acceptances because of her WashU ED results.

You sure you want to pull your EDII as well? PM me if you want to discuss further.

lol someone is awfully sore for not getting in

also not to be a downer but st. louis/clayton area isnt all that great. Youll prob be stuck in the washu bubble most of first semester.

Hey guys! I got in!!!

Anyone starting a facebook group or something?

@ksadia Congrats! If you flip to page 36, there’s a link to the group.

Thanks! I’m so excited.
