Quick question: For ED applicants like us, we still have the same merit aid deadline as other ppl which is Jan 15? Is this correct? Also, doesn’t WashU only pick like a very few amount of ppl for that? Is it even worth it? So much to consider…
@beegee123 I agree. I don’t want to put a lot of effort into the essays and then not get accepted. But hopefully I will ugh I just want to know ~X(
@hellokitty679 yeah the merit aid deadlines are the same for us as it is for people applying regular so Jan 15. Are you guys planning for applying to more than one?
There is some good news guys, we won’t have to wait until December 15th this is when they posted results in the most recent years.
2014 - December 10th - Wednesday
2013 - December 9th - Monday
2012 - December 11th - Tuesday
2011 - December 9th - Friday
In this year (2015)
December 9th - Wednesday
December 10th - Thursday
December 11th - Friday
So it will probably be on one of those three dates.
Does WashU really pay tuition for students in families with salaries under 75k?
I know it will probably be next Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, but does anyone know if they have released an official date earlier than December 15th?
@squishybaby I don’t think they released an “official date” cuz on their admissions website it just says by December 15 but I feel like its going to be the 9,10, or 11 like in the years past
I investigated and the past 4 years it’s come out between 16-18 business days so maybe it’ll be next Monday-Wednesday? Just what I found.
My best guess is Friday the 11th, which would be 18 business days from the 16th excluding Thanksgiving. That also seems to be right around the time that a bunch of other schools will release.
Anybody have tips on dealing with possible deferral/rejection? I know decisions haven’t come out yet, but I just want to prepare myself for the worst. Lmao I’m too hyped for Washu so I’m taking a step back.
Honestly you just expect the worst but hope for the best. And above, I included Thanksgiving so I’m guessing mid next week.
I’m mostly concerned that i won’t get in due to financial reasons. I’m $70k income from a single mother
what time do they release decisions? and it will be the 9th 10th or 11th almost definitely
@iceskating1124 I think its going to be 5 Central time It’s five for other schools
“Entering freshmen and returning full-time undergraduate day-school students with parental incomes of less than $75,000 annually are not awarded need-based loans and instead receive grants from the university that will not have to be repaid”-- on the financial aid section of the wutsl page
@2016gradyay
@HiddenCholo I think @2016gradyay is referencing the fact that Wash. U. is not need-blind. So they take into consideration how many people with financial need they can admit.
Yeah I’m freaking out too…I’m pretty sure I won’t be rejected bc washU doesn’t usually do that ED, but I am pretty darn sure I am going to be deferred.
Yeah similarly, I’ve wanted to go to WashU for the last 5 years so its going to really suck…
Sean…if you’re reading this…please don’t take a pic and send it to everyone like last time k…thanks
What is the average acceptance rate for ED?
@2016gradyay Last year the acceptance rate was 42% http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=1720 but it could be completely different this year :((
I would use this - since it is the official document filled out by WashU as of 2013-2014. It says under C21. 1695 applied ED last year and 521 were accepted. That’s 30.7%. http://wustl.edu/policies/assets/pdfs/wustl%20cds%202012-2013.pdf
