I’m a CMU EE alumni and my son will graduate from high school in CA in '20.
So far his college focus has been on leading state flagships with hopes of OOS merit. He will definitely be going to graduate school (either MS, MBA, or other). Up until now I’ve kept CMU out of the picture because I’m not fond of paying $75K/year for undergraduate when CA schools at $30k/yr. But now that he has started filling in applications I’m worried that I’m influencing him in the wrong direction.
If my son is going to apply to CMU (his career interest is technical sales which is what I do) then I want him to do it ‘all in’ as in ED. Got a lot of thinking to do with him between now and Nov 1st.
I’m back to my senses now. Going to keep focused on state flagships.
