<p>for example would ED I have less applicants and hence less competition?</p>
<p>Or would they see ED I as showing initiative and a clear want for the school moreso than II?</p>

<p>Both clearly distinguish you as serious about the school. In the case of ED I it shows you made your decision sooner, but I son't think the odds are much different. Either case it's binding so they for sure know you are serious.</p>
<p>Remember, if financial aid is at all a factor for you, I wouldn't apply ED at all. Better to not get into a school at all than to get in and not be able to afford it.</p>
