ED (I or II) at Emory and/or Oxford?

Hello!
I am currently a junior and I was hoping for some feedback before I start my applications this summer. i.e. should I focus on retaking the SAT/ACT, or further involvement in my ECs. I am interested in the finance field.
Should I consider the early decision option for Emory/ Oxford, since McCombs at UT is an in-state option for me.
Thanks.

Your SAT isn’t as good as your outstanding ACT. Why not just submit that ACT?

@boss2719 : “State (if domestic applicant): Texas (OOS); We realize that out-of-state tuition will apply.”

No! Emory is a private school. Everyone, I is subject to the same rate structure.

I agree with #1 that the ACT will help more than the SAT. All else looks solid I guess. good luck.

Early Decision plans are reserved for those that KNOW they want to go to Emory. Otherwise, don’t do it to yourself.

Thanks! @ljberkow and @bernie12 I plan to stick with the ACT as it fits in with Emory’s middle 50 scores. Also, I visited the Emory campus for an informational tour in January, and I am seriously considering it.

Also, do you have any idea about the BBA+QSS? It seems to be a relatively new program, and the website mentions that it requires careful planning from freshman yr onwards.

@boss2719
Yes it is new, It takes careful planning as you have to complete the prereqs for Goizueta while staying on track for the QSS.

@boss2719 : It is very credit hour intensive, and the QSS courses aren’t easy, and nor would the BBA courses be particularly easy (especially if you choose finance or accounting. And even if you chose “easier” paths, you still have to compete in those classes)

@boss2719 One last thing, if you know you want business, Emory College is a better starting place for Goizueta Business School for several reasons. Just apply to Emory College unless you REALLY want that Oxford experience and you believe that experience is worth more than things like (1) enrolling in GBS as a sophomore (Oxford continuees enroll as juniors), and (2) ability to take more business classes as freshman and sophomore.

For what it’s worth, I saw something on the Emory website and the new program and the 4 initial entrants. It looks impressive. Also, that 34 and your 4.0 are better than middle 50%. You’re in good shape. Keep it up.

Ok, the program does sound rigorous, but I do like that it leans towards a quantitative, technical skillset as well. I will definitely consider this during my college search. Thanks!!
