I was just accepted ED II...YAY!!!! But, how do I view my financial aid offer?

If it’s available to view you can view it on OPUS. Your OPUS as a prospective student looks slightly different but you should see a link for financial aid.

where? i don’t see it…under financial aid all it says is “Applying for Financial Aid”

Have you completed your FAFSA and CSS Profile? I don’t believe they will offer you aid until you do.

Yes, I have. It says they received my 11-12 FAFSA (I had to do it for another school where I would start in the summer) but it says that my 12-13 FAFSA is ‘Initiated’ even though I did the 12-13 a week before 11-12. Is this why I can’t see anything? I thought they only needed the CSS Profile so that they could make an estimate of FA. My parents haven’t completed their taxes, so the 12-13 has the same information as the 11-12 right now.

12-13 is the year that you’ll need for Fall Semester.

Let me say though that I am in a very different financial situation than you are, and I was a transfer student, so I don’t know the rules for ED students. You may be right in what they need, the financial aid office will know for sure.

You are still very early, and Emory has a very large endowment, so I wouldn’t worry.

You should start a dialogue with the financial aid office asap. Call them tomorrow.

Attached is a link to show you approximately what your OPUS will look like when your aid is posted.

Thanks! Yeah, I don’t have that “Emory Financial Aid” link. I’ll call them in the morning!

It said in the email today that it would be available BEGINNING on Feb 16… so maybe tomorrow!

I never got an email…

Really? They sent out a mass email at like 3:30ish just saying “hey you’ll get your decision after 7pm… blah blah blah.” A couple people mentioned it in the big waiting thread.

“CHECK YOUR FINANCIAL AID ONLINE
If you applied for financial aid, your estimated award information may be available under the “Finances” link in your OPUS account beginning Thursday, February 16th. If additional documentation is needed, your award may not be available. Click the “To Do List” link for pending items. Required documents must be received by February 20, 2012 in order to receive an estimated award prior to the admission deposit deadline.”

Thank you…I know. It’s weird. I’ve gotten several other emails from them, but apparently not the important ones!

Now I can see the link but it says I’m not authorized to view that page when I click on it.

Now it disappeared!

My link is there when I log in on my iPod, but it also says access denied… and on the computer, it’s not there at all. Strange.

Everyone: Financial Aid can be very complicated. The finaid office is there specifically to help answer questions you might have about this process. If you are at all confused about your aid please call them.

If you want to give them a few days that might be a good idea, they have to process hundreds of students right now, but I would call them by Monday at the latest so that you can make sure that you haven’t missed anything.

Also, OPUS will have a “To Do” list on the right hand side with the documentation you need to submit for financial aid–don’t forget to check that.

I can see mine now.

Mine is gone again?

I don’t understand… Is the total cost of attendance when you click on the link to view the total cost… is that how much you have to pay with financial aid or without?

Your TCA is the (estimated) total cost of your education for the year. It is also used to calculate how much aid you are eligible to receive.

Again, this is a very simple version of this. You NEED to call financial aid. You sound very unaware of the process. It is IMPORTANT that you call or you will miss deadlines and processes. This is not always and easy process and often a lot of documentation is needed. Call the school.

^100% agree – especially if your aid package includes loans. You need to review the terms and sign a promissory note in order to accept the loans so the money will flow to Emory next fall.
