ya i'm completely flustered and that made no sense whatsoever

I wouldn't worry too much about this if I were an EDII applicant. There could be some flaw in the data we're seeing, but even if not, the fact remains that a competitive student will get in no matter what round they apply. There's no reason that Emory would severely punish EDII applicants over the regulars, especially since EDII shows more interest. Perhaps, for some reason, the average EDII applicant has dramatically lower stats than other rounds. Either way, Emory isn't going to reject you if you have the scores they want.

ya but whawt are the scores they want UGHH

Haha Doctor, i'm in the same boat as you man. I also applied ED II and it doesnt make sense that their acceptance rate is only 8%, especially since it says ON Emory's website that applying either Early Decision round gives you a statistical advantage. I'm pretty sure there just must be some faulty data out there. I posted a link to another thread and they said the rate was about the same, so i'm just gonna remain in denial and believe that no matter what....

I guess it's a matter of wait and see, I can't believe it would be true, personally I think it would have to be combined, and the rest for RD, right?

HotChillynJazzy, I'm with you. I refuse to let this get me down! I'm just going to blame it on some error that none of us are seeing!

ya i'm going with you guys on this one...i really can't imagine this being the case..there has to be like one little thing that is screwing this up..there's no way that emory applicants would be stupid enough to apply an early option that would be statistically comparable in terms of difficulty to harvard and 10ish% accept schools. it doesn't make sense to me.

but to you who think that the percent accept are them same, i agree..and apparently they are..but when you add up the ED 1 and 2 acceptances based on that..what does it come out to be.......

i just called the office to check on the status of my application and also asked if the numbers rodney came up with sounded possible..and the lady, who was only a receptionist mind you, claimed that they sounded unrealistic and were probably a "bit more"

doctorjohndorian:
"claimed that they sounded unrealistic and were probably a "bit more"
does it still less spots?
bit more doesn't sound too good does it?

Hey doc, you ended a post with:

"GOD DAMNIT"

Is this REALLY the place to talk like this?

I recommend you clean up the language in your future postings. You never know who is reading these forums. If anyone from the Admissions Office saw your post, you may as well stop dreaming of Emory and move on to the next school on your "wish list".

My intent is not to scold you. It is intended to give you a gentle reminder that what you post and the tone you convey is a reflection of your charachter.

... Man, I bet they're gonna have fun looking for applicant "John Dorian".

I honestly don't see much harm in it. It reveals the frustration of college admissions. I'm not sure that any of the fellow applicants would be terribly offended by it.

This isn't a job interview, it's mostly a bunch of 18yr old boys and girls applying to some college and have a message board to keep each other informed. Admissions reps likely don't read this, or if they do, won't go through the trouble of tracking us down for saying something on a random internet forum.

Adm people do look at these posts, but will not knw who in the worls is doctor so and so, etc..
I was in another site, and the adcoms from yale steped in with admissions advice.
The look to see what is being talked about, strategies and what the applicants feel is fair or not. In fact it will help if one of these reps, will help us with the main questio we had her in the first place: what are the real chances for ED1, 2 and RD please!
I will not be affraid, but language, yes, I would keep the language down to polite.

well, as far as I am concered "god damnit" is not a curse word and it is just a phrase of frustration.

momof3boys maybe you should mind your own business and keep your criticism to your 3 boys. i would appreciate it because there was much worse language that I could have used to express my frustration, but opted to use a much more casual phrase (which reflects my upright character by not cursing out of control) that should not seriously offend anybody, unless you are religious.

and by the way....Doctor John Dorian is the main character on the hugely popular tv series, Scrubs. He is not applying to any colleges this year.

take it easy, I know it may be frustrating, but you'll do fine. We all have our moments and I agree dr dorian, personally, I don't mind. you shouldn't be mothered in this site, no preaching needed. I have no idea how it came down to this from the original question, which is a math /statistic one
Anyboby else called to find out the D--m numbers? #*^t!

haha..how ironic. damn is not a bad word. if i were cursing out of control then i would understand completely.

You ever notice how on the radio and TV when somebody says "God Damn", censors take out the word "God", instead of "damn"?

I always imagine an angry Bill O'Reilly screaming about how he's "sick and tired of the godless liberals trying to take God out of 'God Damnit'"

Wow, this thread has gone more than a few degrees off-topic. However, I'm still saying that a competitive student will get in no matter what round. ED II kids might be really low-scorers for some reason, but Emory isn't going to punish EDII, unless there's some kind of strange quota they have to meet.

Good luck everybody. I applied EDI and it was nerve wracking the last week before decisions were posted at midnight.

is a 1380 okay to get in..or is that one of the low scorer scores for emory?

More or less average for an admitted student. It'd come down to ACT, GPA, ECs, or whatever else you have. It's not going to shoo you in, and not going to keep you out.

well, my act is virtually the same at a 31...i have pretty good, probably above average ECs (i'd love for you to assess them if you had the chance) and my UW GPA is 3.85..so i think i'm right up the alley for an accepted student...i hope you agree?
