I’m just wondering if you are able to apply Early Decision II to another school if you applied Single Choice Early Action at Princeton. I know Yale allows this so this might be a stupid question but I’m a little confused.
Princeton SCEA rules clearly state no other early apps to private schools. So no EDII apps to private schools. https://admission.princeton.edu/how-apply/application-dates-deadlines/single-choice-early-action
And these options for non-private or international schools, note all must be non-binding. So no EDII apps to public schools.
You are correct that Yale does allow some EDII apps, but make sure you know the restrictions.

You may apply to public schools not other private ones. SCEA stands for single choice. It’s pretty much a waste for non hooked, ED on other hand doubles or triples your odds.
Wait are you guys saying you aren’t allowed to apply ED II at a private university even after Princeton has made SCEA decisions in mid-December?
It seems that a Princeton applicant could apply EDII after receiving SCEA decision in mid-December, but not prior to that point. Students should discuss with their GCs and/or Princeton AO.
Once the initial decision is made by Princeton in mid-December (accepted, rejected deferred) you are free to apply ED2, EA2 or RD anywhere else.
It seems to me that you can’t apply EA2 orED2 even after the decision. The blurb on the Princeton site specifically prohibits EA and ED with no exception except to public and international schools . Rolling admissions to any school private or public is allowed. No stipulation as to how long the ban on EA and ED is addressed. Just says not allowed.
That type of unconditional ban forever would not only be absurd of Princeton or any other school but utterly unfair and unrealistic. The college admission process and cycle is not a servitude to Princeton’s whims for the entire college application cycle. Once Princeton defers you or rejects you, which you will find out in mid-December, they really can not and do not have any say so whatsoever in an applicant attempting to gain admission at another institution if applying to that other institution occurs AFTER the Princeton SCEA decision date in December. They specifically mention ED and EA on their website because that would coincide with their own SCEA application. They specifically don’t mention ED2 or EA2 because it does not coincide with their SCEA application time frame. Princeton’s SCEA is also non-binding. So a person is free to apply to any other school regardless of program RD ED2 or EA2 once the applicant knows their status from Princeton’s SCEA program application.
