Your ECs show focus and your scores are decent. If you can get your ACT to a 35, you have a good chance especially with your hooks.

@long2181998 What do you mean by " UPenn or Wharton"? Wharton is part of Penn, it is the business school at Penn. What you mean to ask is what school ar Penn you should apply to CAS, SEAS or Wharton? It depends on what you want to study. If you want to study business apply to Wharton, if engineering, compsci apply to SEAS. You might want to look at the M&T program, a dual degree between SEAS and Wharton but it is extremely competitive to get in.

@Penn95 I’m asking if my chance to get into Wharton is good enough or should I apply to CAS and then do an internal transfer ?

@long2181998 if you want business to be your primary field of study, you shouldn’t apply to CAS. If you can’t get into Wharton, it’s very likely that you can’t get into any of Penn’s schools. That’s like saying 'I want to go to Stanford but I don’t know if I’ll get in. Should I apply to Princeton and hope to transfer?" because their admit rates differ by a percentage point or 2. If you can’t get into one, you very likely cannot get into the other. Apply to the one you want to go to.

I know a student that applied and was admitted to CAS and then transferred to Wharton, so it is possible. At the same time, admissions to Wharton for Penn students remains competitive - so if you aren’t confident that you will perform extremely well academically then an internal transfer cannot be depended on.

@PennCAS2014 It’s only one or two percents ? I heard Wharton is a lot harder to get in than the other schools(except engeneering)

@long2181998 It is not a lot harder, just a little bit harder. The Harvard/Stanford vs Princeton analogy is accurate. It prob around a two percentage point difference in acceptance rate between CAS and Wharton and a little bit less between SEAS and Wharton. In terms of stats there is not much meaningful difference.
I would advise you to apply straight to Wharton ainstead of CAS and then trying to transfer to Wharton unless you know you would be happy doing an Econ degree in CAS since it is not at all guaranteed that you will be able to transfer to Wharton.

You have a great shot at Penn…bring out your passions…ur EC is great. Just remember why YOU want to go to Penn. That’s what is really important in this process. Your ACTs are fine. A superscored 34 is very good compared to Penn’s average which is a 32.
