I’m worried about my Math SAT score and my grades… My grades are atrocious.

Honestly, your sat is fine if not semi higher than it needs to be for oxford except math, it will make up for your grades (which aren’t even that bad either haha) plus 8 aps very nice, I’ve taken 7 and they mainly revolve around the sciences ( ap chem ap bio with 4 Lang and ap psych)

And schools tend to be more forgiving of low test scores than of poor academic record… My friend with a perfect app (mostly As with a few Bs, 12 APs, Hispanic, research under professors, club founder) but a 27 ACT got into Dartmouth yesterday. And last year a friend of mine got into Emory with a 30 ACT, and an otherwise perfect app (salutatorian, all 5s, nursing certification and other good ECs). So you’ll probably get into at least Oxford…

And I say this with a bit of bitterness, but they tend to be even more forgiving of low tests scores if you’re a URM (under-represented minority).

Yea I understand and you’re right about the forgiveness for low standardized test scores, hhh we just never know what the admission officers are thinking

I am middle eastern but on the application I put white ( because that is technically what I am according to their options)
but of your grades and rigor and scores show your capable of succeeding at Emory or oxford then ones race is irrelevant which should be the case for you

True. Ahah… I just really hope I get in. =P I like the diversity too… My grandpa (who went to Emory law) DISLIKED it for that reason, though…! He’s afraid of me “bringing home a black wife” ahah… Ridiculous. But I enjoyed the diversity, being with people from different backgrounds and beliefs than yours forces you to question your own, and makes you more articulate in general, at least that’s what I find, from having to explain my background or beliefs to others…

To clarify that last bit, I’m one of like two Jewish people in my town, and also one of probably 4 (fairly) liberal people in my school… So I’m used to my beliefs being challenged, and to having to explain my background to people.

Eli, I know this is totally stalkerish, but I was looking at the likes on a picture that Emory posted, saw your name, got really excited, and then showed it to agiqnf and we both smiled. I hope I get to see both of you guys next year!

Dude, that was beautiful… Haha “bring home a black wife”; yea Oxford offers so many opportunities for leadership too which is a really big plus. Besides, I’d feel more “at home” in Oxford’s environment as well. Oh about your beliefs, honestly, Oxford seems like perfect place for you… And me! Haha hopefully we both get in

If that’s how I’m being stalked, I’m fine with it…=P Hope to see all of you there as well, Whenhen! Thought with the 67% increase in apps, I’m not sure I will.

Have you guys applied anywhere else so far? I already got accepted into UGA for early action. If I don’t get into Emory, then I’m gonna have to finish some more RD applications to other schools… :(
