ED or not to Expensive Ivy League School

@thumper1 my total is $63k including the $1000/mo. 60k tuition plus 9k in living expenses, minus 6k scholarships. She could pay her own living expenses with loans but I’m not that much of an ogre. Still a lot of money, but it should be affordable with an income of 350K.

I suspect 2k in earnings is a drop in the bucket, for sharing college costs. Work study pays a little more. And that usually goes to books and personal.

The kids who get significant earnings are generally computer types who can freelance. And, very important, work their schedules around classes, papers, exams, study groups, etc. The average employer off campus wants a fixed schedule and you compete with locals. Plus, you need to get to that job.

That’s interesting take. I have to do some calculation and sit down with DS to explain the financial implication. He would have to apply some outside scholarship seriously and also has to find serious summer jobs and school jobs.
