I was just wondering if there's any benefit to applying ED if your a Canadian. Dartmouth is my first choice.

It is neutral as it neither hurts or helps you

It helps. I know 21 internationals were admitted ED…

But how many were from Canada??

Even in the times when Dartmouth was not need blind to international candidates, they excluded Canadians and Mexicans as Dartmouth has always been need blind to this group.

I am sorry, but what is ED?

ED = Early decision

To be more specific, should a hooked canadian applicant apply early decison or regular decision?

thanks.

If it is your absolute first choice, no matter what (ie, financial aid), then by all means apply ED. If it isn’t I doubt that you will lose ground by applying RD instead.

This year there were many CC kids who were rejected or deferred ED who appeared to be extremely strong candidates, which frankly made me wonder whether ED is a good idea if you aren’t a legacy or a recruited athlete. It almost seems as if ED candidates are scrutinized more closely.
