Ed/rd

What is the advantages to applying ED?

I am dutch student and I really want to go to Ivies.
At which I have relative the biggest chance to get admitted if I am appling ED?

And am I right that Yale princeton and Harvard are the only which International students needblind/Full ride admission

If you do not have the money to pay and are dependent upon financial aid for "full ride admission", then you should definitely NOT apply ED because it is binding.

Also keep in mind that the international applicant pool is very competitive.

There is a difference between being need blind and meeting 100% of your demonstrated need.

Being need blind only means that your ability to pay /financial circumstances will not be looked at regarding your admissions into the university.

meeting 100% of your demonstrated need, means if admitted the school will meet 100% of your demonstrated need (what the school beleives that you and your parents have the abilty to pay, not what they feel they can afford or are willing to pay) Also be advised that meeting 100% percent of your demonstrated need can mean a finanical aid package that is heavy on loans.

there is essentially no such thing as a "free ride" at the Ivies because all financial aid is given on the basis of need. Also students are required for the most part to contribute to the cost of their education. This means woeking summers, on campus work study etc.

Yale and Harvard are Early Admissions, not Early Decision. That means you are still allowed to apply Regular Decision to other schools and, unlike Early Decision, acceptance is not binding.

Yale and Harvard are extremely competitive for internationals (as well as US students!!). Applying Early Action will NOT help you much if you don't have top test and school numbers and some sort of "hook" that helps you stand out from the crowd.
But, yes, applying Early Action is probably your best shot at getting in to these two schools.

Hmm.. I'm now considering what will be mu best shot... EA or ED.
Because I've read that at princeton 500 of about 2000 who have applied have been accepted. So I thought that is a good shot, to get at an Ivy.

Also does ED means youre not able to apply anywhere else before you are rejected? And is at the time that youre reject still enough time to apply for other schools?

I need for certain financial aid. My parents make about 32000 dollars a year, how much do you thnink I will get at princeton, and is that safe enough to make a ED

If you go to the Princeton board, you will see that a large number of students got deferred/ rejected in the ED process. As Carolyn and I have both you, there are very few slots for international students. Even if princeton did accept 500 students ED, the majority of them ar NOT international students.

For the class of 2007 there were only 97 students TOTAL accepted into Princeton.

http://registrar1.princeton.edu/data/common/cds2003.pdf

ED means that if you are accepted you must withdraw your application from all other schools You cannot apply to any other schools except for schools that have rolling admissions. Basically you are saying that no matter what the aid package is that you can live with it (because you are also giving up your opportunity to compare packages)

If your are deferred from ED, then you can apply to other schools in the RD process.

Regarding your financial aid no one can say how much you will get because there are various factors that come into play. You and you parents would have to file the forms, because they not only take into consideration your parents income, your income, their assets, savings, investments and whether or not they own or are a partner in a business.

If you apply to a school that is EA (yale, Harvard) even though they are Single choice Early action (which means you cannot apply to other schools) you will find your admission status early and you will not be bound to attend the school.

is there anywhere a play I calculate it, because I'm afraid that if I'm accepted my parents wont be able to pay for me.

thank you very much

what means enrolled?

Students who are actually attending college or private school which your parents are paying tuition

So if you admitted and you accept to go to it, that means enrolled?

RIght now you are attending H.S. so you re enrolled there.

If you have a brother or sister who is attending college, they are enrolled in college.

The question probably aski how many studnet s will be enrolled in college in 2005-06 you must count yourself
