Need advise (early action)

I have heard that in many cases it is harder to be accepted in college if you apply under early decision, because more competitive students apply. I just wanted to ask is it the same in case of EARLY ACTION?

Thank you

Actually, it's just the opposite. Statistics have shown that it is easier to get into certain colleges if you apply early, regardless of whether the program is EA or ED. So if you decide to apply early somewhere, it should give you a slight boost in your chances (granted you are a decent applicant in the first place).

Bentley, Lake Forest, Ohio Wesleyan University. Are these institutions those "certain colleges" where it is easier to get if one applies early?

Yes, actually they tend to accept more of their early applicants than their regular ones.

And do these universities accept international during the early action process, I know some universities that recommend internationals not to apply under the early plan.

I bet the reason why universities recommend internationals not to apply early is because it's a binding agreement (if its ED). A vast majority universities dont offer financial aid to international applicants so thus being legalliy bound to a school with no financial aid is not a very ideal situation. I'm not sure if admissions is automatically not need-blind in early decision, but I bet it's the reasoning for int'ls in ED.

Early action though is different because it's not binding. So I don't know about that.

heming is right. internationals shouldn't apply ED unless to a need-blind school or they are absolutely certain that that is where they want to be.

i'd say that E plans makes a big difference only in schools where 'interest' is important. i don't know which schools do for sure, though.

Actually, some colleges don't allow internationals to apply EA. U Chicago, for example.

According to their websites, Ohio Wesleyan (Dec 15), Bentley (Dec 1), and Lake Forest (Dec 1) allow internationals to apply EA. You could email them to be absolutely sure, though.

International students who request financial aid may not apply under the Early Action program.
