ED stats released!!

Are you still with your girlfriend, Bokonon?

I'm sooo not getting in RD. Why'd I even try? I read that 47% of Dartmouth's accepted ED pool were athletes/legacies, and it wouldn't surprise me if Princeton's accepted ED students were of a similar composition...or more so. If Princeton had the same number of athletes/legacies, then the real rate (for the non legacy/athlete) was around 15%. Juuuuuust great. I love Princeton and everything, but in terms of getting in SOMEWHERE, I may have done better at another school.

You heard wroing about Dartmouth. 123 of 397 ED admits were recruited athletes. (31%)

16% were legacies.

It is not clear that there was zero overlap.

30% admit rate with an average score in 1450-1460 range sounds more like a second tier school. I guess pretty soon there will be only HYSM.

uh, hardly...

pton is as good as any of those anyday...

ugh 60 sec rule!!!!!!!!!

Pton's admit rate was 10% last year...so yea...i think it should be PYH =)

Good point, Byerly. Either way, I'm screwed as far as princeton is concerned.

in the words of john candy, "Buck up!" , lol, there's always state schools :)
one of the benefits of living in cali is the great state school program...so as far as im concerned, im just CHILLIN! if i dont get in, UCLA it is...and if i do, its all gravy...baby, hehe

but i have to admit, getting in to princeton would be nice....

i often dream of having the worlds BEST "problem" ever....it usually starts off with me checking my gmail account on April 1st and seeing the word "congratulations" in the heading of every email that i got.....then, i realize that BOTH yale and princeton accepted me....oh me oh my! WHAT A DILEMMA! i spend the next month frantically going from campus to campus, desperately trying to free myself of this horrible, horrible plight....princeton? or yale...princeton? or yale.....

ahhhh, the nightmares!!!

haha, jeez, i WISH thats the hardest problem i ever have to encounter in life...wouldnt that rock??

Yes it most definitely would! I hope I'll get that luxury but I don't want to get greedy; just one of them would be fantastic!

the legacy system stinks... it's so out of place... i mean everybody knows that bright people don't always get bright kids. 16%!!! jeez...

Remember that the ED rate of acceptance will be higher at the smaller schoolspartly because nearly all recruited athletes are accepted at that point. The RD pool will not contain many recruited athletes so the scores of the accepted RD applicants should show a corresponding increase.
So remember, you must factor into Princeton's 29% acceptance rate the fact that it contains a large portion of recruited athletes and legacies (who are accepted at higher rates).

How will Princeton be informing us come April? I assume its going to be like the early letters in that we will only get a real letter versus a email. Anyone know for sure?

Oh yea, and what day do they claim they will send decisions out?

ivies always send out april 1st

u will get a letter no email

Do they really? I thought it was just the first week of April.

Does Princeton send out likely letters? I would think they're not efficient enough for that...Do they send likely letters to deferred applicants?

actually harvard sends out emails (but only if you say so on the application). yeah, and i was under the impression that princeton sent out likely letters.

I have no idea how the whole likely letter thing works; I only heard about it this year. Other schools like Yale send emails too; Princeton doesn't though.

Princeton INVENTED the "likely letter."

well what is it?!?!?! (the likely letter...)
