Which will give you a better shot at getting into a college early? Is it really an advantage to apply ED or EA instead of RD?

Statistically, you have a higher chance of being accepted. If you want to be an optimist you can say that your application will be reviewed against a fewer number than in the RD round. If you want to be a realist you'd say that those few are some of the strongest candidates who will apply, and they, too, have a better chance of being accepted.

Regardless, people claim there is an advantage, and I believe them. I think ED helps more than EA, too, but you have to be absolutely sure that that is your first choice school.

i personally don't recommend ED because frankly within a couple of months your mind might completely change about the school you want to attend. It also prevents you from comparing financial aid packages.

Apply ED if your family is wealthy and you are absolutely sure you are in love with the school. It is an advantage, acceptance rate is higher always.
