if you apply ED and get deferred to RD, are you still considered ED?
does it vary by college? i can't seem to find anything on any of the school's websites....

if you are deferredd then accepted, do you count as RD?

also, if you apply ED but cannot attend because of inadequate funds, where do you go? what are your options? you would have had to withdraw all other apps, what do you do?

thanks!!!!

No. If you are deferred ED when you get the decision RD it is considered an RD decision.

Inadequate funds you have to contact the university and withdraw. Usually it’s a letter. For ED you won’t get your aid package until sometime in January.

i know about the withdrawing part, i meant the going to college part… it will already be too late to apply to other places…

If you apply for financial aid and are accepted ED, don’t withdraw any applications until you get the aid package?? The colleges usually provide the aid package with the acceptance letter.

that’s true… but aren’t you not allowed to apply to any other schools? say if i applied ED to one school, can i apply EA, or are there rules for different places?

Some schools allow you to apply EA even if you are applying ED somewhere. Nearly all schools permit early decision and rolling admissions/in-state early action.

But you can always submit Regular Decision applications along with the ED one?

i dont know about for a lot of places, but the school’s im looking at have RD deadlines of jan 1 or jan 15, and ED decisions would have been out by then (december)

there is one school that has an EDII deadline of jan 1, maybe what you are saying can work there??

thanks for being patient =/

LOL. Okay. Take my situation for example. I applied to multiple schools (Macalester, Bowdoin, Williams, Carleton, etc.) Regular Decision in October, along with my Early Decision school.

I found out about the ED school in December. I then withdrew all my RD applications. Had I not been able to attend the ED school, I would have written to the school and explained the situation and not have withdrawn all my other applications.
