Act:29
GPA W: 3.8(kinda low)
Senior courses: AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Euro, AP Art, AP French
I am a published artist-my artwork has been introduced in a few books, my art was chosen for an international exhibition comprised of mostly professional artists with a couple internationally renown artists and I have won national and state art competitions. I do varsity golf. I’m the president of the African Trailer Committee(We convert a trailer into a teaching facility which will be sent to Africa) and an officer in another club. I have also interned in an international company(well known), I have 200+ community hours. There are more but these are some of the main ones.
Comments: Emory is my dream school. I’m a first gen
I have a strong essay and 2 very good recs from teachers
3.8 (actually strong and above average for an Emory matriculate even after RD candidates) is fine 29 could be a 30 or 31 though.
@bernie12 I think he said 3.8 weighted lol
Still not too bad of a gpa though!
@KuntaKinte Oh, I thought it was unweighted, don’t know then. Depends on how it is weighted and how Emory reweights GPAs. Still may be strong and also depends on school difficulty. Lots of Emory students apparently have high ranks with lower GPAs.
Oxford will be easier to get into than Emory College.
I’m applying Ed1 for both Oxford and Emory. I’m interested in doing political science as my major. I also have a 4 in AP Lang and I just took my SAT Il for literature as well. I’m retaking the ACT tomorrow but I won’t be able to see it until November
I know my scores are low but I doubt I could change them now.
@fuufff : They actually aren’t low…just merely “alright” for Emory, much like the GPA. It always is a leg up when one of the two can be VERY strong. I would certainly highlight you love for art in your essays. Now THAT will help you stand out.
I did write about art in my common app as something I had a problem with and then excelled on, so hopefully that might help me a bit.
