Hi! I applied to Bucknell EDII (majoring in English) and was wondering what my chances are of getting in. I have a 3.71 unweighted GPA and 4.61 weighted on a 4.0 scale. I have a 30 act composite score (English 36, Reading 32, Math 28, Science 25) and have taken honors/high honors classes throughout high school, along with 2 APs junior year and 3 senior year. I’ve participated in track and cross country since I was a freshman, and am Vice President of a volunteer Junior Board at a home for people with developmental disabilities. I was really sick first semester of this year, and my grades dropped because of it, making my biggest worry my C in AP Calc at the semester… Let me know what you think!
classrank? Did you talk about your sickness on commonapp or anywhere else? Other than that you have a great chance. I’m replying so possibly more professional/experienced people will respond.
My school doesn’t do class rank, but my GPA places me in the top 20% of my class. As for informing them about my illness, I wrote a letter to the admissions counselor at Bucknell separately about my sickness and how it affected my math grade specifically.
Since no one has answered, I’ll give an opinionated answer (in parts to keep this at the/near the top of the list).
Part 1: You have a very good chance of getting in ED2 (http://inlikeme.com/admission-statistics-acceptance-rates-early-vs-regular/) (other schools have big difference btw ED and ED2, but bucknell is a small school, so ED & ED2 acceptance rates should be about the same).
