Grinnell ED2 result is gonna Coming out next weekend!

Good luck, everyone!

Best wishes TimXie!

the result is mailing out tomr…good luck everyone!!!

Are the going to post the results on the web tomorrow (as in the 29th)? I’m wondering, because since it’s saturday and all…I’m going to go crazy if I have to wait for another 2 days.

Yep…we are supposed to be able to check the status online since 29th

Just got a call :D, I’m in
Hope you get in as well (:

So jealous…

I think I need to wait until tomr

Congratulations hellosunschein! My son is in his final semester and was as happy to return to his Grinnell home a week ago as he was in his first year being there. Great place!

Thanks
I’m really really happy, but on the otherside…now that I’ve made it, I’m a bit worried about everything I didn’t have time to worry about before x). I mean, holy crap, I’m going to the USA :D

tell us some of your worries and we’ll try to dispel them for you! Congratulations. Grinnell has alot of programs that are designed to welcome international students and help them feel at home. What country are you from?

TimXie, we’re rooting for you here, too!

Got deferred…sigh…

Crap, I’m sorry dude :/, maybe you’ll get in through RD.

And well regarding the worries and such…first thing’s first, how am I going to get all my luggage over there? I mean, I’ll probably have to travel alone, because my mum’s afraid of flying, so I’ll only have one suitcase, because…I couldn’t really possibly drag two by myself. I probably have more stuff to take than I weigh.
Second thing, I’m having doubts if I’ll like it. And this is pretty immature I know, but still, it sounds so perfect, but if I set my expectations too high, I’ll probably end up disappointed.
Third I’m worried about making friends there and if I’ll fit in, which I know, is also pretty immature, but I’m a worrier, so I worry about pointless things.
Fourth is just the whole “moving to another continent & having a minor freak out” thing.

I’ll just need a few days to get used to the idea I guess (:

Oh, also, I’m from Slovenia (:

TimXie–sorry to hear. Hope you make it in RD!

hellosunschein–I believe you will be assigned a host family from the town of Grinnell who will help you adjust to a new culture and could probably help with driving you to the local Wal-Mart, for example, if you needed to get bedding or other things there that you couldn’t take on the plane with you. My son likes to buy his clothes from the local second-hand shop that is a short walk from campus. Grinnell students come from all over the world. You will find many other students adjusting to moving to another continent.

No school is perfect–nothing is perfect, right?–but it is a wonderful school. You will make friends there if you are open to making friends.

also remember that you can check two suitcases on the airplane, but that doesn’t mean you’d have to do much lugging yourself. You would check them in when you get to the airport, and the next time you will see them will be at baggage claim in Des Moines, which is a small airport, and i’m sure that Grinnell will arrange for you to be met at baggage claim.

you can also order things online through Bed, Bath and Beyond and have them shipped directly to Grinnell.

Everyone will be in the same boat regarding expectations, making friends, etc., and international students arrive on campus together to have a preorientation.

Congrats to everyone and TimXie I hope that you hear better news in the coming months! Quick question:does anyone know where to find the housing forms on pioneer web?

I don’t think the housing form is available yet. They can’t actually do anything with it until they know whose coming in May. It’s not ‘first come, first served.’ You’ll get notification.

okay. thank you! I was wondering about that because it seemed so early, but they want you to check it off on the spot reservation slip saying that it was completed or something.

Oh, you get a host family? Well that’s good news. Thanks for all the inormation and advice (:
