has any ED2 applicant heard anything from the school?
it's stated on the website that the notification should be sent by mid-Feb. so i'm kinda wondering when it will be out.

well, i guess I set this up to be the official thread for ED2 applicants. Please kindly update us if you have received any signal from the school:)

No admissions mail yet in Massachusetts. The 15th is a holiday, so hoping ConnColl posts letters to arrive on Saturday. How many of us ED2s are out there?

i am an international student. i live in asia
here even worse because we celebrate chinese new year so the post office is off for more than a week.
i wonder if they will email instead.

International here. Took really long for me ED I decision to arrive, so I’m not hoping for anything before the 20th. (Unless ConnColl sends emails, which is awesome!)

**General Comments:**ConnColl was a favorite. Thought I had a good shot because my relatively poor (2050) SAT I and that was being ignored. I guess the aid part plays a huge role.

Best of luck to everyone, especially internationals!

Sorry to hear all the bad news. Sounds like financial aid must have played a big part. Had heard that the full-pays might have an advantage. No news here in US. Did you get emails or letter? Good luck and hope you find a great place to go next fall.

Sorry guys. I am really surprised you got rejected.
I’m an ED deferred international. I play soccer and do the IB Programme (38/42 predicted) but didn’t send any SATs. I applied for FA. I don’t know whats the reason to get rejected but I know that on ED 1 they accepted only 4 students (6% ints got in).

Yes. I’m a disappointed. I thought ConnColl was a match, but I doubt such a term even exists for internationals. Now I’m beginning to doubt my chances anywhere, but that’s how I am - always hope a lot, expect a little so that I’m never miserable.

I’m not going abroad to attend a safety. The LAC system was the only thing that was attractive enough to make me think about asking my parents to pay so much more (yes, even 10k is a lot for us) that I would have to here. Even if I end up with 11 rejection letters in April, I’m not going to regret not applying to safeties.

cma0707: I got an email. I guess they know how slow international mail is, unlike some other colleges… Thank you. :)

luluzg: I guess a deferral is better than a reject, and all the best for April. :)

exactly how I am feeling right now. i’m afraid the same outcome will happen.

you’re in the same situation as I am. My schools list doesn’t include any safety for the reason that my safeties (LACs rank 50 and below) are not generous enough to give me almost a full ride. in fact, I got rejected by Kalamazoo for Early Action.

I only apply to LACs rank from 20 to 50, which I believe I have a shot at and at the same time I can get a big amount of money from them.

so after all these rejections for me, I conclude that I’ve sooooo underestimated the financial crisis. this crisis has cut down so much financial resources that schools now only give full/almost full rides to some true geniuses, whom I am definitely not. :)

that’s why I think I may get the same outcome from other schools in april.

ok, I see no point in hanging around here anymore
goodluck to those who haven’t received or get deferred
I wish you all the best :)

Good luck with other applications guys! Wish you all the best. I also didnt apply to safties coz I can get a great education back at home and univs are almost free (1000 maximum, depends on ur ranking). I applied ED 2 to Mount Holyoke and got in with insufficient FA so I declined it. From 7 remaining colleges, Conn is my first choice although it almost has the worst ranking. I find it to be match but I guess my chances are minimum (there is a guy from my country who is Class of 2013) and other girl from my country is deferred. I come from a country which has 4.5 million people so if they accept me I guess we’d be overrepresented :S But as you said, hipe for the best, expect the worse.
Good luck and dont lose the hope!

So the poster I’m replying to said he won’t be here anymore but I think this is worth saying (and this is a reply to some other posters):
The vast majority of schools cannot promise to meet the full need of US citizens and permanent residents. Only a little over 50 do. Only seven schools are need blind for international applicants, and only two of which are LACs (Amherst and Williams). All of the schools that are need-blind for international applicants are very tough to get acceptance.

I can’t evaluate Conn’s admissions procedures, but generally the international pool is very competitive for all colleges and the admissions process is more of a crapshoot.

Also, luluzg, I don’t think Croatia and Eastern Europe is particularly overrepresented. I’ve read that a large amount of internationals in Conn are from Asia, so perhaps the Asian field may be the most overrepresented.

i know there is one croat and a few students from other european countries. i know we r underrepresented but in comparison to china but we have a few million citizen while they have over billion. it seems logical to consider that when talking about under/over represented nations
