I was sure I wouldn’t get in, but I everything worked out well. Everyone who was accepted (or not) feel free to contact me! Can’t wait to be on campus next year & good luck to everyone who was denied. I am sure you will get into colleges that are just as good.

When will Early Admission stats be available for Claremont McKenna - Class of 2018?

That’s not accurate because they deferred my C’s application for decision to late March. Congratulations to all those who got accepted. To those who didn’t, hang in there as there are plenty of other opportunities waiting for you. Remember, during these times your graduate work will have more power to influence your career than your undergrad work. So, work your tails off and make your mark during your undergrad years and you will sail into the best grad schools which are the ones that make your careers anyway. Good luck to all.

So happy to be CMC Class of 2018, Congrats to everyone else who got in. Just curious did anyone who got accepted hear anything about Merit Scholarships. Thanks

Man, bruise to the ego. I bled CMC, and they rejected me. I guess winning national competitions in economics isn’t good enough if your ACT is one point below their average.

Oh well, I’ll go be a philosopher at some other LAC.

Is the ACT average 31 or 32? I haven’t heard anything about Merit Scholarships…….when then?

Not sure when they’ll choose our merit scholarships. It said only 10-20% of the students receive them, so I am applying for a boatload outside scholarships. The financial aid packages pretty good to based on previous years!!

@ChrisJC

Average of 31. My English was a 34 (11 essay) and math a 29, but the other two sections sucked (27 and 28) so I got a 30. I’m really upset about this rejection, but hopefully the upcoming Colorado College decision will bounce me back on my feet.

Tydean1, can you say what your stats were? Thanks.

Congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment. You will certainly enjoy your next 4 years at CMC.

I was absolutely in love with CMC, I have worked beyond hard in high school to get into college. I am full IB Diploma student with an unweighted 3.9 GPA, 34 composite ACT and board member of 3 clubs including NHS, Key Club, and philosophy club. Oh, and a state level competitive tennis player. Denied by CMC after writing some of the best essays I have ever written.
I am frustrated, confused, sad, and kind of angry. For everything I have put in in order to get into CMC and be denied feels like it was all for nothing. So damn random. I never wanted something so bad.

oh, and my independent physics research on mechanics behind a tennis serve and maximizing velocity was a state finalist in multiple competitions and is in submission to be published. why cmc why

So proud to be a stag! CMC 2018!!

will those that got accepted please post your stats? I am applying ed2 and would just like to know if I have a strong chance/any chance of getting in. thanks!!

My stats were not as high as yours in terms of GPA and ACT, but I am in the top quarter of my class (Pretty competitive school) and my resume was pretty lengthy. I am also a Chicago Scholar and Kappa Leaguer, and school mentor. I’ve held leadership positions in about 8-12 activities and I am a 4 year varsity lacrosse captain. I also studied abroad in Finland and teach my peers how understand finance, how trade stocks, ect. I am chess team & deca guy, in addition to all of the typical hs clubs. I have also done a lot out of the class in terms of work, politics, and community service. I am 90% sure my interview and the fact that the things I do/ I’m interested made the school a perfect fit for me. I was told they take a holistic approach, and that saved me.

I am also a URM (Underrepresented male). Check the link below to see what they focus on most and the specific statistics of the incoming class. I was very strong in everything they looked for in a student except the gpa and act, which compared to most students I still did well.

Lanesnotlame…your stats look outstanding and I am sure you WILL do fine wherever you end up. CMC does say that they are not all about test scores and GPA. Because, frankly, in today’s world, do you really think there is a shortage of students who graduate with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and volumes of EC activities and accomplishments? It is not all about numbers but it is also about the individual person. Being rejected by CMC only says one thing: they did not feel you were a good fit for their program. Don’t say “it was all for nothing” because those stats that you worked very hard for will let you waltz into places that most others get rejected at. Just go back to the drawing board or go down the list of your options…and remember the sage old advice about not putting all your eggs in one basket. I have no doubt that you WILL end up somewhere great and thrive there. Keep your head up and be proud of what you have accomplished.

Good luck!
