deferred.

You can get deferred from ED2? Is this only for Vassar or for other schools as well? Haven’t they already seen their whole applicant pool for this year? I guess not, since they’re deferring people…

They said they are waiting to see my first semester grades, so there’s that. And, before I go into super DGAF mode, does anyone know how realistic it is that any of us deferrees will actually get in?? I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO FEEL.

All schools I’m familiar with.

Although the deadline for RD applications was January 1, there are cases where required forms (e.g. teachers’ recommendations, etc.) trickle in and because of the volume of applications, it can take weeks to collate all the application components. Also, for those who took the January SAT, the scores aren’t available yet for inclusion in students’ files. Not to mention, there are ~ seven thousand RD applications. With the current number of admission officers, even with massive quantities of NoDoz and Red Bull, it would be nearly impossible to read all RD applications and compare them to the ED11 applicants.

Congrats. Willing to share some stats to let deferred students know how close they are? Thanks.

-sigh-
Deferred :(

ACT - 32
GPA - 3.51 unweighted, 3.73 weighted
pretty good essays/recs/ec’s

(Accepted)

Status: Accepted

SAT - 2160
GPA - 3.8 (UW)
Lots of leadership roles, essays were pretty good

Hope that helps :)

For those deferred or rejected: I know it sucks, but that just means you’ll be getting a ton of other acceptances come April. Success or happiness isn’t measured by the content of a college decision, it’s measured by the content of all the endeavors and choices you make afterwards.

Good luck!!!

Male or female? Vassar types should note this as there’s a big difference in rates of acceptance.

@Bossf51: I’m a girl :)

Thanks! ;)

any more stats? I’m a hopeful junior- just curious

My daughter was accepted ED1. 31 ACT and < 3.75 GPA. From looking at other acceptances from her school, one thing I’m certain of, Vassar practices what they profess and admission officers do in fact employ a very holistic approach for each application. That said, I would caution everyone from reading too much into other students’ statistics and a nexus to your situation.
