Education Abroad program (EAP) Paris-Anyone been?

My D who will be a sophomore this fall really wants to study in Paris the fall of her junior year. She is looking at the program in Paris at the UC Center. Has anyone done this program or another UC one? She is trying to decide if she wants to live with a host family or with other UC students...pros and cons to both. Any advice?

Anyone???

I have a friend who studied for a semester at Grenoble. Well, Grenoble’s a way off from Paris, but she enjoyed it a lot. She did live with a host family, as did pretty much the rest of the EAP Grenoble folks. She was lucky; her host family was a nice, retired couple (with lots of free time) who took her hiking in the Grenoble mountains, gave her tours, cooked her awesome meals, had meaningful conversations with her in French, etc. She was also given a really spacious room with an incredible view. The experiences varied - some of her classmates got families with obnoxious little kids, had families who set stricter rules, had families who weren’t as interested in giving the whole “French family experience”, etc, but nothing terrible. Overall, I think she would definitely recommend a home stay. What are the other housing options for UC Center Paris?

Thanks for the info. The website says that in Paris they have a choice of homestay or in a dormitory with other UC and American students. Don’t know exactly where. Sounds like your friend had a great experience. With a homestay you never really know what you’re going to get. But I think it’s the best way to go.

Anyone else?

We should start an EAP thread where people who have q’s can get a’s from people who have gone.

I’m interested in studying abroad, not paris specifically, but it’d be nice to hear people’s experiences.
