I want to become a teacher and go to a good college/university. What are some good schools for education majors? I want to become like one of my favorite teachers - creative, inspiring, etc. I want to be a wonderful teacher, but I need to know some good schools. I might want to teach English.

You don't need to major in education in order to teach. Choose English programs that offer certification to teach English. Alternately, you could major in English and then get a MAT, which would probably be a good idea in any case (more $).

For example:
http://www.duke.edu/web/english/undergraduate/major-teaching.htm

What's an MAT? And would it be a good idea not to major in education? I don't mind how long it might take, I just want to be a great teacher that motivates their students. :)

MAT= Master of Arts in Teaching = graduate degree in education

I didn't say it wasn't a good idea to major in education (particularly with a 2nd major or minor in your subject). I merely said that it wasn't necessary.

You might want to check out the thread on teaching in the Parents' Forum.

Thanks, do you know any good schools I can go to, based off what I'm interested in? I really want to go to Duke, but I don't think my grades are up there. I have a GPA of a 4.5 (I take advanced and honors classes), but I had a D in geometry last year so I don't know?

Take a look at Trinity Univerwity in San Antonio. Outstanding 5 year program. 4 yr undergrad degree which includes education course work & practicums. 5th year MAT.
