Educational Residential Program for Elementary School Students?

I know it’s bad form to revive a really old thread (especially when it belongs to you), but I just wanted to say that I ended up tutoring my sister last summer and she ended up in 4th grade math this year ( as a third grader) and has been making A’s in it consistently. She loves math.

Thanks for all of the advice and insight, everyone! I will be tutoring her again this summer. We’ll do math again, but there will be more of a focus on English. We will probably be reading and writing about the Harry Potter books all summer :D.

You were all right. She just needed someone to spend some more time with her!

Firstly, your parents should find out from her teachers if she needs extra help, motivation, etc.

Summer programs, see if there are any day camps in your area that combine normal summer activities (swimming, arts and crafts, tennis, etc) with scholastics. We have them here… and make sure she wants that. See what activities she likes.

Reading is one of the most important things she can do right now. Get her interested in a good book series.
