EE/CE Summer Internships Freshman Year?

Is it possible to get a summer internship for CE/EE after only freshman year? I will be attending University of Illinois Urbana Champaign for EE this fall/spring and anticipate to have the following classes under my belt, ECE 110, ECE 190, and ECE 290.

From what I can tell ECE 110 will give me introductory knowledge to EE/CE, ECE 190 which discusses the basics of Computer Science, OOP, and specifically C, and ECE 290 will give me some experience in the physical hardware of computers. Prior to these classes I will have had no knowledge of any kind applicable to my major (besides physics/math).

Would it be helpful to self-learn a language? I could probably thoroughly learn the C language during my coursework spring semester.

Its certainly possible to get an internship after freshman year. I got an internship before starting college in Engineering. You probably wont be able to get a top quality internship though.

Not to be nit-picky, but you will not learn Object Oriented Programming in your course on C. C is not an OOP language, C++ is, but not C.
