For those who attend USC, or know someone who attend USC, with an EFC of zero can you please give me an idea as to how much money was allotted to USC need-based aid, grants, loans, etc. Are your loans manageable? Do you live on or off campus?

The financial aid is VERY good.

You would probably get Stafford/Perkins loans for a total of $5,500 and about $2,500 in work/study. The rest of your USC-determined need (which may be different than the FAFSA, because they also use the CSS/Profile) will probably be covered by grants (Pell, Cal Grant if you qualify, and USC grants) and scholarships. In addition to that, they offer another $2,000 in unsubsidized Stafford loans for extra expenses like a new laptop. If you do have an EFC (you probably won't, but I'll mention it for others who might read this) they offer PLUS loans for the EFC if your family needs them.

The Stafford loans get bigger when you are an upperclassmen, I think it is about $7,500/year then (not sure yet, because I am a freshman).

You may also qualify for a Cal Grant since it appears you are a CA resident. Did you apply? It represents around $9000.

All you have to do to apply for the Cal Grant is file the FAFSA and submit your GPA before March 2nd. Most California high schools automatically submit the GPA - you can ask your registrar.

This is perfect. Thank you both so much, I appreciate your taking the time to answer.

Yes I'm a CA resident and I've looked up the Cal Grant guidelines and it looks like I qualify. Thanks again. :)
