So, I know that Florida is basically going to have the least funding of any state in the nation for its public secondary schools next year (why they cut so much is beyond me...), but I was wondering how much that affects the state's public colleges. Obviously it has to be affected somewhat because UF gets funding from the state, but does anyone know any specific effects these cut backs will have on UF?

The state budget cuts will hurt all the state universities. What students will see are less admits, larger class sizes, fewer course offerings, especially during the summer, fewer materials being bought by the libraries. Hiring freezes will leave positions in all departments vacant, causing longer lines at service counters.

Just to add, depts that bring in a lot of money on there own (i.e research, patents, donations, etc) wont be affected as much as the ones that depend on those funds. Basically, engineering and hard sciences. They are already cut a lot of the languages and the english majors dont have a huge course offering.
