Will this affect you in the future/college admission?
I'm a senior in high school, 4.0+ gpa student. Couple days after the AP testing, the proctors called me & my sister in for "sharing" (cheating) on the test. They are deciding if they are going to invalidate our score or not. (I have a feeling they might..)
I was wondering if they do invalidate our score, will this affect our future in college and admission and will this be in the records & stuff? How will they invalidate our score, like.. will they say that they suspected cheating or will they just cancel our score (the same as if we canceled our scores on our own)? Or should I just cancel my score before something bad happens??? Will the teacher know the reason why my score will be canceled? I rather have it canceled than having a record that I cheated..
The proctor is going to let me know their decision by Wednesday. I really want to know what they will actually do and how the process works. I need to know asap, I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Britt

what did you guys do?

We sat next to each other and we looked like we were sort of communicating and tapping the table and such, but I told the proctor that it would be hard for me to share since I can’t really see because I don’t have a 20/20 vision. How will the test be canceled? Will it just be canceled, that’s it?

If you didn’t do anything wrong, you should have nothing to worry about.

Did you do something wrong?
If so, scores canceled, and eternal shame.
If not, appeal your case, you should be able to keep your scores.

if the answers on your two tests do not match up, then they won’t cancel your scores. If they match up only slightly, they might make you retake it. If it matches up a large amount, then they will cancel your score and EVERY ap score you have, any ap exam credits you have, etc. Also, it will go on your record (more extremely than school cheating) because it is a standardized test.

The proctor will call me in on Wednesday at school to tell me that she will invalidate it, but if she doesn’t notify me, then she will not cancel my score. Let’s say she does call me in, do you think I can tell her that I want to cancel my score instead before she does it herself? I really hope it doesn’t go on my record… :(

the fact that you’re giving in so easily makes it sound a little like you’re guilty of something…just saying

Yeah I feel a bit guilty, it was only like 1 or 2 questions though… I just really need to know how the process, cause and effect will be like???
I really hope it’s just a canceling in the score because… AP exams are like expensive extra credits.

“I told the proctor that it would be hard for me to share since I can’t really see because I don’t have a 20/20 vision.”

“it was only like 1 or 2 questions though”

So you lied to your teacher too?

Pray that the proctor will let it go since you obviously did something wrong.

Will this be on my records or…? And yeah, I’m being honest here and I’ve been feeling pretty guilty… sigh, all the hard work I’ve done.

You aren’t getting into any Ivy Leagues, they read us like papers. But just don’t do it again.

Hmmm. And what if I’m going to a CA State college? Any harsh consequences?? I didn’t apply to any Ivy League, I’ve gotten into UC’s, but I plan on going to state instead.

Does LBC stand for Long Beach City? o.O

Yeah it does, lol.

Let’s track LBCGirl25 down and tell the proctor what she is posting!
I wouldn’t worry about it unless they have concrete evidence. Either way I hoped you learned your lesson.

And you got to a high school in Long Beach? o.O OH (&$(!

why the f would you cheat…someone that stupid would get a 1 anyway

AvidStudent: Let’s hope you aren’t serious, I’m a bit paranoid! lol

Power of One: Why do you ask??
