Colleges actually suspend you for a fight? I thought that was so high-schoolish.

Can you say assault? this is what a fight is, one student has assaulted another.

To the OP, you will definitely have to write an addendum as to what happened because the law schools do ask if you have ever been suspended for academic or disciplinary reasons.

At Rutgers, I know that the school wouldn’t suspend you because the student body is just too large. However, we do have our own police department and they would arrest you for assault (if they caught you + know who you are).
It would seem that having an university that would suspend you definitely works against your interests relative to a large school like Rutgers because schools really need no burden of proof to discipline you however assault charges usually require a court appearance and it is HIGHLY likely the charges would be modified or dropped to a lesser charge.

the drunkard who reported me also called the police but when they heard about it they just laughed it off. no warning, no nothing. it wasn’t even logged.

Most applications will ask whether you’ve ever been suspended/on academic probation/expelled. You will need to write a statement explaining the circumstances surrounding your suspension. I would advise you to stay away from sounding defensive. Instead, state the facts, the nature of the punishment, and perhaps what you learned/it never happened again.

of course i’m going to ******** about this, about how i learned my lesson and changed myself for the better.

i’m just wondering if law school is still possible with this. i’m sure harvard/yale/stanford are out of the question.

outside of school i do have a good resume though.

It sounds like it can be explained. I would not rule out any schools, especially if you have strong recs from your Williams professors.
