Hi everyone,

I am an EE sophomore from Georgia Tech. For next summer, I was planning on doing an internship, and just wanted to plan out early. I have a decent gpa (3.5) but I literally have no work experience. My only experience is FIRST robotics in high school and so I know I can't really aim too high for atleast the first internship. So, I was wondering of applying to mid level internships. Can somebody tell me some good companies or places to apply to? And when should I start applying for next summer? has companies started taking applications yet?

PS. by mid level internships I just mean places which are less intense to get into

Start with your school’s Career Center and start early in the Fall term. Most companies start recruiting from September thru March/April for next summer’s interns. Georgia Tech is a great engineering school. If you try hard and cast the net wide (i.e. open to all geographic locations and companies), you shall be ok. Do not miss your school’s Fall Career Fair which usually happen about a month after the start of the school term.

Thanks! Yeah I definitely dont care about the place or money as long as I can get a meaningful internship. Any suggestions for companies? Or in the career fair I should just dig around and see which one has smaller lines?

Make sure you check the job postings at your school’s Career Web site. Companies that come to recruit on campus shall list what internships they are offering and what majors they are looking for. I suggest you apply to all internships that accepts EE major. Since the on campus interviews are selective, apply to them all to give you a better chance to get an interview and potentially more offers.
