Does Cockrell (electrical specifically) give preference to girls sometimes to be admitted to their major since it is one of the largest engineering branches lacking female enrollment? I have good statistics, but I was just curious if they sometimes give preference to admitting women over men, since not as many females apply.
Cockrell ECE is highly competitive. I believe they give preference to high test scores, class rank, and previous engineering-related extracurricular engagement–as they should–but they do have holistic review of candidates. It might not help being a woman, but it can’t hurt. In any case, it is a challenging curriculum. Only apply if that is what you really want to study and are willing to work hard for results and career opportunities.
@EngPII Oh… i heard it was one of the easier engineering majors to get into. It’s something that I would enjoy doing, but just recently I’ve wanted to become an engineer. I have good test scores, but my class rank is hovering around the top quarter, but just barely. I guess i should probably apply undeclared then, to have a better chance.
