Electrical Engineering & Physics Double Major?

This is a question for a friend in the international pool. He is wondering whether it is practical or even possible to do both these majors simultaneously. No doubt these majors are crazy difficult, but my friend is brilliant at math and physics. He got a gold medal at the last International Physics Olympiad in Iran and also made it to the finals of the USAMO equivalent in his country. Do you think he can pull it off(provided he gets accepted)?

Why would he want to? It's not particularly smart to limit your schedule that much unless you have a very good reason. There's nothing stopping him from majoring in just one and taking the most interesting classes from the other when he has time.

I'm not seeing any particular reason why he'd need to double major either...

Possible, yes, but you really shouldn't consider double majoring until you are actually here. I'm EE and I looked at adding the Physics major. What I realized was that it really restricted the number of EE electives I would have time to take so I decided it wasn't worth it.
