Future Electrical Engineer in need of Double Major/Minor assistance?

Hello to everyone!

As someone applying to colleges in the next year (currently in the summer before Senior year in high school), I have been giving tremendous thought about future careers and, particularly, majors. Primarily, I have been stuck deciding between Electrical Engineering and Physics (with a minor in astronomy).

Currently, I’m considering doing a double major in Electrical Engineering AND Physics considering I love both so much and a great amount of classes intertwine. Furthermore, I’d really like to do both majors with a minor in Astronomy. I understand that doing this setup could potentially delay graduating from undergrad by a year, but I am very ambitious and this is practically my dream. Would this be incredibly difficult? Any comments WHATSOEVER are appreciated greatly.

TLDR: Considering double majoring in EE and Physics with a minor in Astronomy considering I revel in both and it would allow me to shift around for my graduate. Would this majoring be possible? Incredibly (if impossibly) difficult? Any comments are appreciated

While I don’t know anyone in the exact same situation, I know a girl who is doubling in aero engineering and physics with a math minor. She has had some really full semesters and is taking a fifth year to finish her degree. I think she also did a summer or two of classes. But she has interned at nasa research facilities this summer and the one before. So it’s working out for her.

I think it’s doable if you work hard and don’t mind the extra year.

A lot will depend on the school and the program and the number of AP credits. In general there is not a lot of advantage to double major and/or minor. And it can be tough to do it along with Engineering, Look for other similar threads.
