electrical vs computer

From what Ive seen these have similar plans up to a certain point, but have substantial differences...
For a student interested in working a company that makes small mass-distributed products in the future such as ipods, televisions, cell phones, routers, speakers, car equipment maybe, small electronics in general... is computer engineering the way to go or will electrical engineering also give the same opportunities and more?

anyone here have experience with career center @ uf? btw?

I can’t really comment on the main question, but you should look up the required classes for both majors (probably just the ones that differ between the 2 majors) and then read the course descriptions. I did this and it really gave me a better idea of what would be learned, and from there it’s easier to see what you can go into.

rsala, it all depends on your interest. Think of it as a spectrum. On one end you have computer science (pure software) and the other end you have electrical engineering (pure hardware), where computer engineering falls in the middle of that spectrum.

Do you see yourself working on hardware and designing circuits? Or do you see yourself writing low-level code that directly controls hardware? Any electronic product will need a bunch of EEs and CompEs to get it all working so either concentration will fulfill your desire.

Let me know if you have other questions because I could answer them directly (I graduated with a computer and electrical engineering dual BS degree).
