Candace- I remember we "spoke" before and I see that you are also going to check out U. of Tampa. I just want to pass on a few things that I know.
When we went to the U of Tampa admitted student session on Long Island, I remember one of the kids asked if they could be an education major and minor in dance. The response was that it is difficult, as Florida has an extremely tight curriculum for education majors that it is difficult to have time to minor in another subject area. Elective courses in dance would be ok.
Another thought-- my d has a friend who is also interested in Spanish and special education. She may continue in both those areas because she thinks to be bi-lingual and a special ed. teacher may be an INVALUABLE combo and open up teaching opportunities.
You're in Florida- so I think that may be terrific areas to pursue.
I haven't read this thread too carefully as neither of my girls are going into education so these points may have been made- but I just wanted to pass the info on to you.
This actually dovetails in to what dreamer just said. If your kid can distinquish herself with a unique "teaching" background, she will go far. And even if she changes her mind in regard to teaching, being fluent in Spanish or another language will help her in any business endeavor.

thanks Marny, I encouraged my daughter to take Spanish 5 because of the need for bilingual teachers in Florida. She probably will not minor in dance anyway, so that is not a problem. If her school offered dance classes that would be a plus but not a deciding factor.
