Yes, high achieving students who are accepted to the university are invited to apply to one of several fellows programs. If after the selection process they are not selected as a “fellow”, they are “alternates”. Totally different from being waitlisted to the university. Hope this helps.
This is true about any college your child attends. Parents get hung up on ratings, honors/fellows programs, etc., but it really is up to the student to take the initiative once on campus.
Sure, there are things that are presented on a platter to honors/fellows students, but most of those things are available to all students - they just may have to do a bit more of the ground work on their own to get there. If they love the college, not getting honors/fellows shouldn’t deter their desire to attend.
Totally agree. As a parent of a current student, I want to assure anyone who may be disappointed about being an alternate to the honors/fellows program that opportunities for engagement abound at Elon for those who want to pursue them. They are not reserved for honors/fellows students.
If anyone is an alternate for the legal professions scholars program we just gave that spot up yesterday. I am sad about it as I really thought Elon would have been perfect for my son and we all loved our visit last week and were impressed by the beautiful campus, the warm and welcoming people, and the small class size and great opportunities for engagement. However, ultimately my son decided he wanted a bigger school with a college town and sports culture.
I’m wondering as well about regular financial aid.
Just curious: My son was deferred EA. Leading up to that, he and I both received a lot of communication from Elon. I just realized, we haven’t received a single email from them since the deferral. Has anybody else had that experience? The deferral was a surprise–nobody from my son’s school has ever been denied at Elon–it’s a very rigorous school, and while he has LDs that make his stats not great, he was well above the averages in Naviance for his school. Now we’re getting worried.
Same here
Do we think it will definitely be out the 20th or possibly earlier? I was deferred EA, but I think EA came out early?!? But idk what do we think? Any speculation?
My portal was wiped clean. No more March 20th date and my letter of deferral is gone too.
That happened to me too but I am a regular decision applicant
I wouldn’t say my son’s was wiped clean, but yes, the EA deferral is gone.
I got an email saying there was an update, but it’s not loading for me :(((
Accepted
accepted!
Accepted OOS
accepted!!!
I was accepted to, with $20,000 of scholarship money!
Congrats! How did they communicate the money awarded? Son was accepted today, but no financial notice and do not see any financial tabs on portal.
They just told me about the financial award directly through my acceptance note in my portal. If you got one they should tell you there. It was the Elon Engagement Scholarship.
Thanks
