nothing on D’s-but she was trying for business. from last year’s posts looks like they do honors and college fellows before more specific ones

Oh, and an FYI for future Fellows candidates…if you have an unavoidable conflict with the one weekend that is offered for the competition, they WILL work with you – daughter did her interview when she was on campus in February for her musical theatre audition, and was emailed the essay to write and return in a 24 hour period…and she was selected for Fellows… We did appreciate Elon’s realistic flexibility. (I’m sure the weekend itself was a great experience…maybe someone could post about the Elon Fellows Competition Weekend?)

On Track shows S is an alternate for the Business Fellow. Wish it were better news, but he still likes Elon as a top choice.

yep-on the on track-D is business alt

mommafrog what type of fellows was it?

@ USMCDAD…d was selected for Elon College Fellows.

I’m in for Honors Fellows!

I’m in for leadership :)

Just got waitlisted, rejected, and accepted to three other schools. All in the span of two hours.

I’m happy to say that I’ll be a phoenix next year

My son was accepted today to the Leadership Fellows program. He’s over the moon! Any others out there? Might be fun to have them connect…

My s is an alternate for the Leadership Fellows Program. When do students accepted to the program need to make a commitment?

Accepted students need to make the decision by May 1st.

Are all finalists who are not accepted to the Fellows programs considered alternates, or are some rejected?

Inevitably most are rejected. There are only a few alternates for each fellows program.
I know leadership usually has around five each year- not sure about the others

Scoutmom9 I see that your son was an alternate for the Leadership Fellows Program. When did he hear that he was accepted to the program?

SMT1961 He was not notified that he was accepted to the Leadership Fellows until May 11th. By that time he had already decided to attend Elon and had thought the chance of being a fellow was over.

They will also accept some students into Leadership Fellows later in the freshman year.

Scoutmom- Does your son enjoy being a leadership fellow?
What are some of the things he has told you about it? Does he primarily hang with his fellow fellows? (ha)

I was accepted as a leadership fellow on Friday and it pushed me over the edge to commit fully to Elon. Very excited.

Kiddo was accepted to Elon College Fellows a while back, then received notice yesterday that she’s been placed on the alternate list for Honors Fellows – just curious – are all students not selected for one of the Fellows programs placed on this “alternate” list? Is there a ranking (i.e. if you’re #2 on the alternate list, and 2 people don’t accept, you’re up?) She has decided to attend a different University, and has sent written notice to both Elon Admissions and the Elon College Fellows people that she’s releasing her spot (and is hoping there are happy squeals at an alternate’s house!). But does she need to let the Elon Honors Fellows people know to take her off their alternates list, or is that just a polite “also ran” to those not selected?

As a courtesy it would be nice to let Elon know being on the Honors alternate list has not changed her mind and she will be attending elsewhere. (I believe somewhere I read there are usually at least 5 designated alternates.) I would think there is a ranking.

I was doing a search involving Elon and came across this discussion. I used to be the Communications Fellows Director. Elon is a wonderful school with a great program for communications students. I hope that whether or not you have been given the opportunity to join the Fellows program, that you will strongly consider Elon.

I should add that I’m now at a different school, so don’t have any inside information about decisions.
