I am currently finalizing my application to Elon, and from what I can gather it doesn’t require or focus on letters of recommendation. I have already applied to other colleges through the common app and feel pretty confident about my recommendations. I was wondering if there is a way for me to send in recommendations even though they aren’t needed.
Contact the school’s admission department and ask.
My take if they are not needed or even optional, they won’t be evaluated by admissions as it would be an unfair advantage to you over others. But at least the phone call, although probably irrelevant and potentially irritating, may show greater interest in going to Elon than the average applicant, and thus you may gain some brownie points.
It’s been a few years but I’m pretty sure we sent letters of recommendation with our daughter’s application, and she got in. Maybe things have changed since then though.
Why don’t you ask your admissions representative. Also meet him/her if you can, make sure you keep in contact, ask questions, update with recognitions and awards that you receive after the application due date, etc. These are the people that will be advocating for you at decision time, and it does make a difference if they know you.
Good luck!
Our school automatically sent the rec letters to Elon - I guess they can read them if they want and not if they don’t.
Elon does allow you to send letters of recommendation and will consider them in admission, but they are not required.
There is an email address where you can send them, I forget what it is but its somewhere on the website.
