Elon or Furman?

(just fyi.. this is for a friend of mine)

So, she's been accepted to both Elon and Furman. She has no idea which one she wants to attend. What are yalls opinions? It would great if yall could list pros and cons of each.

Something to consider--she wants:
-not a suit-case school
-community feel
-good education/good academic reputation
-something to do on the weekends (friend doesn't "party".. but wants to go to a school where she can have a good time)
-involved professors
-money is not an issue

I don't know anything about Furman. Isn't it religiously based? Elon seems to be a pretty "hot" school right now...getting alot of buzz, even from outside of the South. I've heard that Elon has alot of school spirit.

Yall... dont want to know yalls opinion cuz yalls smarts and yalls are really smarts and guess what yalls... i aint know nothing bout furman yalls... im sorry yall......i gotta go shoot some coons yall

chillin... relax

My friend from Jersey recently went to Elon. All i can say is that she loves it there and that its quite a party school with a lot of spirit.

I'd take Furman.

Choose Elon

Furman > Elon in terms of reputation and academics

I don't know about Elon, but I have a good friend at Furman.

The academics are highly respected, but they seriously work their butts off. A's are rare, and those that receive them most definitely earn them. Excellent acceptance rates at med, law, and grad schools. Very intelligent kids.

The demographics at Furman are mostly made up of two polar opposites: devout church-goers and alchoholics. But there's stuff to do, even if you don't like to party. There's always something going on on campus (Dashboard Confessional performed there about a month ago for instance) or in Greensville (or Spartanburg or Columbia or Atlanta, etc.).

Paladins have tons of spirit too. They have an awesome football team, and everyone gets excited about sporting events. Intramurals are very popular, even if you don't have any idea how to play a sport.

Furman is whatever the opposite of a suitcase school is. And everybody knows everybody. And if they don't know you, they know bunches of people who you know too. Everyone says hi to everyone.

Lots of rich kids there. Furman isn't easy to afford if you're not on a scholarship (over $30k a year). Not much diversity. Average Furman student is upper-middle class/wealthy and white.
