Elon or Miami OH?

My daughter is thrilled. She has now been admitted to two of her very top choices, both of which have great word of mouth reputations in our area. Elon and Miami of Ohio. It is going to be a difficult choice for her. Which of these two would you pick and why? Thanks. (We have been very fortunate and realize it. So the best of luck to all of you.)

Our daughter will be graduating from Elon this year. We have nothing but positive things to say about the university. She has had great, caring professors whom she has gotten to know personally. She's had the opportunity to travel abroad three separate times -- two Winter Term courses and one Spring Break service learning trip. She's been a research assistant for one professor and has been engaged in a number of volunteer projects in the community. In other words, she's had a rich, well-rounded education. The campus is beautiful and the kids (and staff) are extremely friendly. There's been plenty to do on weekends. She studies hard but also plays hard -- it's the perfect balance. And she already has an excellent job upon graduation!! Our daughter has really found herself at Elon. She's sad that this is her last semester there. We're from Northern Virginia. One of the things she enjoys about Elon is that there is a very high percentage of out-of-state students. She's become close friends with kids from several different parts of the country. I don't know anything about Miami, but I can say that you will not go wrong with Elon.

Eli, congrats and what a nice choice to have! Can't go wrong with either. If she likes watching sports go with Miami (D1 football). Elon is not. Good luck!

Miami OH has a few great stand-out points (business school, pre-med, D1 sports).

But I'd probably choose Elon. It seems like a more down-to-earth place, offers a solid liberal arts core, and their study abroad program is one of the best in the country.

Would love some more comments in reponse to this choice. Thanks much.

If she's not from Ohio I'd do Elon over Miami (OH). As dpk said it's a wonderful place. Miami's great too, but Elon won't be mostly students from one state, like state-school Miami.
